Life & Times

This is my first blog post. I have actually never wanted to use one of these until I designed it myself. I have been involved in Graphic Design for over three years now, and actually took up the task this past weekend of coding a website, a very simple two column layout, but nonetheless, it turned in to a website. Deciding upon a personal blog wasn't very difficult after I realized how many graphics I have sitting around on my computer that I have never implemented. Now I have good reason to play around with ideas and kick around some new techniques. Designing t-shirts is a new kick I have got into recently. With all the people that need covering, they decided to go ahead and get themselves covered with some cool looking materials - hence, some cool t-shirts.

Once people realize that you have a skill in something, they don't let it go until you are able to do something for them. When I was asked to join the Senior Class, I jumped at the opportunity to be involved and influence the lives of many of my friends and classmates. The t-shirt was one of the first things we discussed. All sorts of ideas came up, but the one that made it through, I think was the clear winner - a semi-retro/modern design that catches your eye the first time you see it. James Elkins aided the process of finding and matching the right style for the graphic.

This summer I wanted to put together a t-shirt that looked cool, but also promoted the camp in a different light. The best design styles are typically retro, and the graphic I found for this shirt fit great. It took a few days to finalize, but the end result was fairly decent. I personally really like the shirt, although my dad is not too fond of it. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Summer 2008 will probably offer some sweet new designs as well.
